Post top 5 vst plugins
ok, I downloaded some free demo versions from vst plugins, some nice things can be done with them  but I'm not going to buy every vst that crosses my path :)

what are you'r favorite vst-plugin's?
(some free ones would be handy as well :))

edit: it doesn't matter what kind of vst-plugins, I need something for creating fat basslines though

1. FM8
2. MS20
3. Bass-station
4. Waves pack (L2, Analysers, ...)
5. PSP (very nice for subtle effects)

Of course I'll buy these when I'm rich and famous.

preferred synth: Z3ta -> I've made everything from lush leadlines, to pads, to grimey basslines with this synth. I LOVE IT :!:

preferred EQ: Voxengo GlissEQ. Very transparent sound. Uses an intelligent form of dynamic EQ-ing. The fact that it comes combined with a freq analyzer makes it even better.

preferred distortion: Camelphat and Quadrafuzz

for beats: battery 2 or pure audio straight into the sequencer window (Cubase)

both my preference too. That camelphat especially has some mad presets.

Seems most people who are using cubase for a long time, use the sequencer as a sort of sampler. Reason-niggers always look weird at me when i start throwing wavs and mp3's straight into audiolanes. Seems it's against their religion or something.

I don't even use a sampler anymore :)

I love the way Cubase handles audio! All the timestreching/transposin/fades you need at a mouse click away.

I find it especially handy for working with beats. Layering snares and kicks is so much easier when you can actually see the waveforms :!:

don't overkill yourself in the beginning, it really has no point. Stick to certain things, this way you'll learn a lot faster. Reason f.e. makes sure you don't vst-yourself-all-the-way-through. Which is a good thing when you start :) The Junglist plugin and the Basstation are very good for learning imo.

haha sepper. that's just what i did. as time goes by, i use less and less plugins. nowadays i can almost do all synthesis with one synth (albino) and all those other softsynths are slowly fading away. i do occasionally test something out, but it seldom sticks.
