Post Mixing software
ez,

In the past months I went to some breakcore parties, and I was wondering, wich software do you/these guys use to mix? I would like to give it a try sometime... And, for the users on the board, is it hard to use these programs? My best achevement on my laptop are my excell, word, and my schamele FL skills :)

Thanks in advance

and that's the most easy audio program i've ever seen, it's even more simple than FL imo

Can someone give me some more info about this program? Is it possible to use legal mp3 songs and mix them? If yes, is it a difficult program?

Thanks in advance.

ableton supports mp3 from versions 5 and higher if i'm not mistaken, version 6 has it for shure cus i'm doing not much more with it than mixing mp3's..

http://www.dogsonacid.com/showthread.ph ... x+tutorial
take a look at the pdf inside this thread, you'll notice it's not that hard..

once you've been messing with it for a while, ableton will know the exact settings for every tune you have played in it, making it a simple drag+drop and drawing the envelopes action to cue a tune

Ableton 5 doesn't support mp3, but it's pretty easy to convert a mp3 into a wave file (Soundforge, ...)

Other popular mixing programs are: bpm studio, traktor dj, serato, final scratch, virtualdj, pioneer djs, djdecks, and there are many more out there, just search around on the web. These are mostly aimed only at spinning though, while ableton is also a production and live performance tool, wich gives you more creative options also when mixing. I'm not sure on how ableton (or any other of these programs) handle drm though.

since my laptop broke down I'm looking for a 'new' and slightly better second hand laptop, my budget isn't very big, but I saw this 1,2 ghz 256mb RAM laptop for a fair price. Are these specifications good enough to run Fruity Loops and Ableton on it? It worked on my previous one, but it gave me some errors from time to time...

Depends on what price etc prolly it's good enough but i think for sure you can compose one yourself at http://www.tones.be for the same price with much better specs
