Post Ableton
Hi,

I'm using Ableton live.5 to try some things out, but I have an important question:

With some of my own samples I have the program just makes a loop itself on the right bpm. But when it's a short sample (without any real beat or so) it just plays it one time, and on the wrong bpm. How can I make a loop on the right bpm?

thx in advance! ezz

double click the sample, and enter the editing menu by clicking the little waveform-button between the 'L'(launch) and th 'E'(enevelopes). Access one of Ableton's core elements: the warp-function.
(Turn warp and loop off to obtain single-shot samples)
But to answer your question: make sure the warp-button is highlighted.
It helps to zoom the waveform out so that only the main warping-tabs are visible (so not the 2.1.3 for example), highlight them and then it's a bit of finetuning from there...stretch at will. For most 4 bars loops, 4 or 8 warping tabs placed correctly will suffice because a warping-point works progressive and regressive.
E voila.

edit: you can edit ableton's automatic warping-behaviour in the options =>preferences => record warp launch-tab
