I checked a traffic site: there's 20% less traffic than three months ago. Quite a lot if you ask me.

Traffic site is not accurate.
It's 50% less.

I'm back since the end of last week, didn't know about the dns-thing, nor did I receive the mail about what to do to get back on...

indeed, there are only half of the visits/day Breakz used to have before the dns problems.
For these people, Breakz down means just looking for alternatives.

the dns fix was a nice temporary fix ... but how long should this situation go on?

I'm not pushing things here, I know you guys do it in your free time & non profit, even paying for it. But these situations do harm your website reputation a lot, which took years to built.
It are the people who were the hardest to reach (not so familiar with dnb, the "scene", etc ...) who normally take you the longest to reach, & it are exactly these people that won't know about the dns fix now.

I agree. (Never received email.)

Seems email doesn't work either due to the fucked up DNS stuff.
I'm trying to get hold of the registrar of breakz to resolve the issue, but the guy seems to have fled the country or something. Still working on it though!

Go to 'Search' or 'Zoeken' when you click start, there you write

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

And click on search 'Alle bestanden'. Then you see all the documents he found, click on the one called 'hosts', then your computer asks which program to use to open this program. I chose 'kladblok', when opened with the kladblok some strange (for a computer noob like me) text apears underneath that text you write

85.10.209.11 breakz.be
85.10.209.11 www.breakz.be

press enter.
This did the trick on my computer, maybe not the most conventional way of fixing the problem but hey ...

Finally! this made it work at home again :)
must have been over 2 months since i could login at home

yes. our hosting partner finally did their work and changed the nameservers so everything is back to normal.

i'm sorry for the inconvenience but there was not an easy way to solve the problem ourselves.
